Instituto Superior Técnico is the largest school of Architecture, Engineering, Science and Technology in Portugal, involving a community of over 10,000 people. Founded in 1911, Técnico offers a wide range of academic programmes intended to promote a high-standard education on those fields, bring value to society as well as generate sustainable economic development. For that purpose, the School has been at the forefront of technological innovation and scientific research by investing in continuous training.

Técnico’s Career Center, which is in charge of conducting career development initiatives, offers its 2nd and 3rd cycle students and 1st cycle finalists training sessions along the academic year. One of them is Career Training Workshops. The goal of these events is to leverage Técnico students’ “market value” in recruitment & selection processes, providing them with the necessary tools to be successful in applying for their dream job or in communicating effectively in a job interview.

It was with these two intentions in mind that I went to Técnico’s Alameda Campus (Lisbon) in December 2023. There, I lectured the workshop called “Storytelling: the best ally of your Career”. The agenda included the following topics:

I must say it was a ground-breaking move from the School, since it was the first time this topic was being addressed to its academic community. Nonetheless, the decision proved to be worth it!
